About the Pearl: From Martin French

The Pearl District loft will serve as the dynamic hub for Imago Dei Arts, a community space where art is imagined, made, critiqued, and exhibited. It will function as a hybrid working studio, educational facility, think tank meeting area, and exhibition space. In it, a multitude of art forms and interdisciplinary conversations will take shape, expressing the community’s creative visions beyond the walls of the local church.

Structurally, the space is divided into two levels. The upstairs loft will serve as the studio for the direction and creation of all Imago Dei communications, as well as arts workshops and experimental projects. The downstairs is a multi-purpose open space. Its uses could include exhibitions, lectures + workshops, SOT classes, photo shoots—and whatever else we can dream up.

The location of the Pearl is strategic. It makes possible an immediate and powerful encounter between art formed in a Christ-centered community with one of the country’s most vibrant and active urban arts cultures. This space is in no way meant to be a Christian art gallery. Our prayer and vision is to see it develop into a dynamic, intrepid, and influential creative nexus where ideas, expressions, and living questions will become manifest. Ultimately, it is to be a sacred space where contemporary culture will be able to witness authentic expressions of Christ’s Incarnation.
